Marketing and Events Intern
The St. Charles Business Alliance is a volunteer-driven, 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing the economic viability of St. Charles through the work of an eight-person staff, four committees, and a Board of Directors.
The St. Charles Business Alliance is instrumental in driving tourism to St. Charles, promoting St. Charles, organizing large-scale events, and the revitalization of Downtown St. Charles, Illinois.
Internship Description: The Alliance seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with the summer's marketing and event planning efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various marketing and event planning aspects while working for a well-known community-based nonprofit organization.
Internship Timeline: Summer 2025
Hours: 25 – 30 hours/week, preferably three times a week in the office.
Responsibilities:

Manage our STC Live! event throughout the summer, including communicating and booking local bands.

Attending STC Live! which occurs on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Duties include coordinating band set-up, managing the opening and closing of First Street, and other duties as assigned. Attendance at the event is mandatory from 5-8 p.m. on event days.

Update and maintain STC Live! social media promotions and communicating said updates with the marketing team.

Update the Alliance’s Website and Travel St. Charles App with ongoing events and updates to STC Live performances.

Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

Gather content of St. Charles, local happenings, and businesses

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space

Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Event Planning, or Public Relations)

Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Canva, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop is highly desired. Knowledge of HTML, graphic design, photography, and/or videography is encouraged.

An effective communicator, both written and oral. Experience with short and long-form copywriting.

Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts

Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

Enthusiasm for St. Charles and the Fox Valley Communities.
