Everybody's favorite St. Charles search is back and better than ever! The 4th Annual St. Charles Be You Rock Hunt is taking place on August 9th starting at 9am, and this is one end-of-summer event that you do not want to miss out on, with a chance to win some terrific prizes! This year, we've made a few changes to the hunt, so be sure to keep reading to learn more.
What are the Exciting Changes?

First things first: let's talk about these new changes to this year's hunt. We are adding some extra work for all of the participants by hiding 10 additional be you rocks to the downtown area, bringing the total number to 20! Participants who are lucky enough to stumble upon one of these beautifully painted stones will win a goodie bag valued at over $30 by turning it in to the St. Charles Municipal Building, Monday through Friday, between the time of 9am-1pm! However, we recommended starting your search right at 9am, as the first person to turn in their rock will win a GRAND PRIZE goodie bag values at over $150!
Where Should I Look Downtown?
Now, it's time to talk about places to look, because believe us, we are not going to make it easy this year. In fact, you may get tired and feel like you need to sit back in a chair and relax. To begin, let's take a look at where exactly in downtown that these rocks could be hiding. View the map of downtown above. You'll notice a blue rectangle within the map showing that all the rocks will be hidden within 5th Street and 5th Avenue.

Specifically, Where Should I Look Downtown?
Next, let's talk about some more specific places that the rocks could be. It's always good practice to search high and low, making sure that you keep your head on swivel so you don't accidently walk past one. We also would like to note that you may have to cross the bridge, a few times before you happen to find a rock. These rocks can really be anywhere within the rectangle portion of downtown. That means, some could be hanging out in local parks and even some notable features of downtown. You may even find some rocks doing some window shopping at our local retail establishments in town, or perhaps they are just waiting to get seated at some of the popular restaurants you can dine at!
Finding these rocks are not easy. It can take some time, and even a little bit of luck, to come across one of the painted "Be You" rocks. But trust us, it'll be worth it, as once you find one you'll feel like a Rock Star on stage. Because of this, it only makes sense to highlight some of the winners from last year. One of the very best things about the Be You Rock Hunt isn't the prize you have a chance of winning, or getting to admire the painted stones. The best part of this end-of-summer activity is that it allows you to explore downtown St. Charles! There are so many wonderful restaurants, shops, public spaces and more that you can discover. We encourage everyone that is participating in the hunt to take some time to visit some stores, admire beautiful products, eat unbelievable cuisine, spend some time in the wonderful public spaces in town, and of course, radiate positivity. Trust us, you won't regret it.
